Alison Nuske
Tertiary Education Transition Coaching and Neurodiversity Consultancy

Dr. Alison Nuske has over 20 years’ experience in the disability, education, and higher education sector, specialising in disability, access, and inclusion. She has extensive knowledge of Disability Discrimination legislation and Disability Standards for Education.

Alison’s PhD explored the experiences of autistic students during their transition to and first year at university in Australia, providing practical recommendations for improving the transition and first year experiences of autistic students.  

Alison is deeply committed to enhancing the inclusion of neurodivergent individuals and increasing community awareness, understanding, and acceptance of neurodivergence.

Alison has extensive experience in Autism, Neurodiversity, Disability, Disability Awareness, Access and Inclusion, Disability in Higher Education, First Year Experience and Transition, as well as Qualitative Research and Analysis.

PhD Project

The number of autistic students enrolling in university is increasing; however, their completion rates remain lower than that of their peers with and without disability. There is currently a lack of research exploring the experiences of autistic students during their transition to, and first year of university, yet we know this time is crucial to ensuring student success. My PhD research explored the experiences of transition to university for autistic students, and provided recommendations for further research and practice in higher education.
